How to be Happy with your Housecleaner
Discover your Love Language...
Believe it or not, everyone evaluates what makes a house "clean" a little differently. What one person obsesses over might be something someone else may not notice or even care about. Everyone has their own "pet peeves" and priorities when it comes to what and how they want their house cleaned. Here at American Maid, we refer to that as your Love Language. What parts of your house make you the most excited to see cleaned? Do you love the scent of your disinfectant? Are the floors the first thing you look at? Do dust bunnies drive you crazy? Do you obsess about that state of the kitchen? Is there a certain method of cleaning your microwave that you prefer? If you can figure out what your love language is, then you can communicate your priorities to your cleaner so that they can prioritize them too!

Learn to be a Good Communicator...
Communication is key. If you're not able to communicate what you want, you're not going to get what you want and you cannot expect the cleaner to read your mind! Where there are a lot of problems, it's usually because clients are not able to communicate with the housecleaner about what they want to get out of the cleaning job. The best thing to do is to walk the cleaner through the house on their first visit and physically show them want you want done. Remember many people absorb information better through watching and hearing, so don't expect a cleaner to always understand exacly what you meant on a written instructions. If the people who live with you on a daily basis don't always understand exactly what you want, how can a housecleaner, who is only there once or twice a week, always know exactly how you like things unless you tell them?

Remember, A Clean Home is a Group Effort...
Get your money's worth out of your cleaning by picking up and straightening things before your housecleaner comes. The less time the cleaner has to spend picking things up and getting them out of the way, the more time they can dedicate to the actual business of cleaning up the dust, dirt, and grime on the surfaces of your home. If you and your household spend a few minutes decluttering and straightening the house everyday, then it will look clean for a lot longer and not be so out of control by the time your cleaner comes next.
