An Open Letter from Elaine, Owner of Elaine's American Maid...

My name is Elaine Gordon Evans, and I started my housecleaning service, Elaine's American Maid, in the Puget Sound Area nearly 22 years ago. I started the maid service because I first had a passion for women, mostly moms and single moms who were forced, so to speak, into the work force to support their children. I wanted to create a position for women which would provide them an opportunity to go to work and be empowered in their own businesses, and at the same time, have enough time at home to be moms and parent their children.

I created American Maid housecleaning service to do just that. What my maid service does is give women an opportunity to engage in entrepreneurial skills while at the same time they can be home when their children return from school at 3pm.

What I do through American Maid Housecleaning Service is teach women how to open their own maid services and at the same time find them clients through American Maid so that they will always have enough work and encouragement to be successful. I also treat the housecleaners I work with with the highest respect. I make sure they are paid well and treated well by the clients I match them to, and will do anything in the world for them. I cheer them on every morning and if they need it, offer an advance, an understanding ear, or even help in an area where I might be able to direct them. I am there for them. My heart is to really see these women succeed and my goal is to make sure that I always give back and make a difference in the world. I also always make sure that all my cleaners are happy and content with working through Elaine's American Maid. In just a short time, the majority of women literally work themselvs out of a job with my maid service and go on to become very successful in their own housecleaning businesses without needing any future work or services from me.

At the same time, I have created two non-profit organizations as well. My non-profit organization, Elaine's Maid for Life, gives away free maid service to women with cancer and breast cancer. At a time when women are fatigued with chemotherapy and radiation, my housecleaners go into their homes with cheerful attitudes and begin to clean their homes from top to bottom. The girls also occasionally bring in flowers, and offer to help out in any way they can. I also clean homes for men who have lost their wives due to cancer, and for moms whose children are also stricken with the deadly disease. I am in the process of fundraising for my foundation, Elaine's Maid for Life, to underwrite the cost of housecleaning for our community's cancer patients on a weekly basis. I have been donating my paychecks every week for the past year. I feel the cleaning is so needed at this time that I did not want to wait till my foundation had raised enough money from other sources. The most amazing thing about this is that giving is so infectious. My cleaners often give extra time to the cancer patients in addition to the three hour job that I pay them for. It is so exciting because it is all about women helping women.

My second foudation Elaine's Maid for Work is dedicated to helping low income women learn how to become entrepreneurs by starting their own maid service.

My maid service, American Maid, is a wonderful service and besides keeping our homes beautifully clean and providing countless jobs for women who need to support their families, I am also able to meet a need of women in the community that no other service takes care of: keeping cancer patients' homes cleaned.

What sets Elaine's American Maid Service apart from all other maid services...

What sets Elaine's American Maid apart from any other maid service is that I am one of the few maid services in America that hand picks a cleaner for a customer based on cleaning style and personality. I do this because I want to provide maid service that has a personal touch by hand picking a cleaner who will learn to clean to the customer's personal cleaning style and satisfaction. I also pick a back up alternate cleaner for each client in case their regular cleaner is sick or moves away. If you choose a person that is wrong for a house, the job will not be satisfactory. I spend a lot of time choosing the right cleaners to clean homes that will ensure success for both the client and the cleaner.

Elaine's American Maid housecleaning service serves the people in the Puget Sound area of Washington State. The type of people who typically use American Maid service is anyone who is too busy and/or is not able to clean their homes on a regular basis. That translates to almost all of us. The cleaners I work with service anywhere between 120 to 140 homes a week that I have matched them matched them with. Elaine's American Maid offers programs for customers so that they can get housecleaning at lower rates and free springĀ cleaning upgrades. Putting their homes on a regular program schedule helps to insure quality and consistency in keeping their homes cleaned.

Also, all of the cleaners offer a satisfaction guarantee. If any one of the clients is not happy with their cleaning service, my cleaners will come back to correct for free. We do not get very many complaints but, if a client is not happy with our service, We are very willing to correct the problem by the cleaner coming back out to take care of the problem or the client can request to change the cleaner to someone else or the cleaner can even do something extra for them in their next cleaning, if the situation is very minor. Elaine's American Maid has the highest integrity possible. I am always available to return a phone call and work as hard as I can to meet the needs of my clients. If there is some difficulty. I will definitely want to make it right with the customer at any cost. Customer service is my highest priority. I am here to serve the public, and I have always believed that a good name is better than riches and I'll go to any length to make sure I am right with everyone in business. Now I know you can't please everyone, but I do know that someone has to take the loss and if that is the case, I want that to be me instead of compromising my good reputation and a good relationship with the client.

Community Involvement is very important to me because we need to love our neighbor as ourselves. My first and foremost love is to reach out and serve the community around me. I am mindful of that when I am putting to work the people in my community who need jobs and who also need to be motivated and helped out till they are able to become successful. Also, I have found that if you care about the people you work with and the people in your community with a pure heart, that is really what people want and need. I also reach out to the less affluent clients in my area who need cleaning and to my senior citizens whom I try to give discounts to and work out ways that will help them afford maid service.

I also am very concerned for the sick in the community with cancer. I am so excited about working with many of the hospital social workers and hospice nurses to care for the people in my community through my foundation, Elaine's Maid for Life. I am willing to give away house cleanings and I have given many away to local auctions and local charities that need the help to raise money.

I want to close by saying that I am in the people helping business. "Women Helping Women" is my mission statement. I am all about doing business and having everyone walk, away satisfied. Having a successful business takes great patience. skill, endurance, and persistence, and mainly a heart that is not self-seeking and all about caring. I give people an opportunity to add entreprenurialism to their life style by encouraging people, especially women to open their own businesses and empower them to have a piece of the rock. America was built on entrepenurialism and I am here to teach them the skills of business and at the same time empowering them to take care of themselves and their families.
